Kundali Matching - Kundli Milan for Marriage, Gun Milan

Kundali Match

Kundli matching, also known as horoscope matching, is an ancient Indian method to determine whether the couple is going to have a joyous life ahead or not.
According to this system, each person can have at most 36 Gunas, and if two individuals want to have a blissful life together, at least 18 of their Gunas should get matched.

Failing to fulfill above criteria is considered to be highly inauspicious and, it is widely believed that such marriages don’t last very long. So, before marriage horoscope matching by name (Kundali matching by name) is recommended.
Guna is a Sanskrit word, meaning virtues, qualities and merits of a person.
According to Hindu philosophy, there are three Gunas that are considered to be present in every human being.

The three Gunas are, namely, Sattva (righteousness), Rajas (enthusiasm), and, Tamas (darkness); they play a vital role in Kundli Milan by name.

In Janam Kundali Making process they are of significant importance and, they exist in different proportions inside everybody.

In Vedic astrology, a Kundali has 8 Kutas which can accommodate 36 Gunas.
Most astrologers prefer to use this system for Kundali Milan and, it is also known as Ashta Kuta system or 8 Kuta horoscope matching system.

This system is considered to be very efficient to forecast whether the boy and the girl are a perfect match for each other or not. Higher the Gunas matched, the better is their love life going to be.

The 8 Kutas are Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Grah Maitri, Gana, Rashi, Nadi.
The process to determine Guna points for each Kuta is explained below,

  • Varna or Jati Kuta

Maximum viable point for Varna Kuta is one.
According to the Hindu culture, there are 4 jaatis namely, Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra (in decreasing order of their priority).

These Jaatis should not be confused with castes as they are awarded according to the person’s attributes, not the house in which he was born. If the boy and the girl both have same Varna or the Varna of the boy is higher than the girl, then they get 1 point. Otherwise, zero is awarded. If the Varna of the girl is superior to the boy’s, then, their marriage is not recommended.

The Varna Kuta compatibility plays a vital role in Gunas matching which in turn helps with Kundli matching by name.

Varna of a person can be calculated using his zodiac sign,
  1. Scorpio, Cancer and Pisces are Brahmins
  2. Leo, Sagittarius and Aries are Kshatriyas
  3. Capricorn, Virgo and Taurus are Vaishyas
  4. Aquarius, Libra and Gemini are Shudras
